The fit

When choosing your child's shoes, the first thing to look for is a Trained Fitter and a store that carries whole and half sizes and width fittings.

At Shoes & Sox our Trained Fitters go through a 12 month fitting program that is run by Clarks shoes and ourselves. This program aims to give our Trained Fitters up to date knowledge in regard to kids feet and shoes and the best possible fitting skills.

Measuring is only a guide to fitting because it establishes an approximate length and width. It is the Trained Fitters knowledge, skills, experience, keen eye and sensitive touch that determines the final size and style.

The Shoes & Sox Trained Fitter will gently feel for the longest toe in the shoe (it's not always the big one), and then allow for future movement and growth. The Trained Fitters sensitive fingers searches for slight bulges that mean pressure on toes. They check that the back of the shoe is shaped to support the heel and for any telltale signs like creases in the tops of shoes, slipping as your child walks and excessive gaping. Our Trained Fitters will go to great lengths (and widths) to ensure your child gets the right shoe and fit for his/her feet.
